Context

The number of digitally native brands is increasing and Pearlfisher continuously strives to strengthen the digital core of the companies we work for. We are looking for skilled creatives who can grow brand equity and build a seamless connection across all digital platforms. 

The Creative Technologist role is an exciting progression and growth opportunity for Pearlfisher. We work towards building and integrating digital design as a fully-fledged discipline alongside our other areas of expertise, inspiring new thinking and bringing new streams of commercial growth to our clients through digital design.

 

We need you to

Join a talented and highly regarded Creative team, championing and growing the digital capabilities within Pearlfisher. As part of a small team, you will profoundly impact how we work and where we are going.

Be a great advisor externally and internally, meeting challenges with an open mind and delivering the best in class digital experiences. Projects vary from smaller components in a larger context to full-stack implementations on smaller projects. We work with a handful of implementation partners on enterprise solutions and build our frameworks in-house.

You will show us that you have

Experience in the arts of JavaScript, HTML and CSS. You have good skills in interaction design and love building scalable, performant web interfaces for mobile and desktop devices.

Keen attention to animation flows and the look-and-feel of things.

Experience with tools like React and Vue. You see the value in using modern future proof stacks and are constantly looking for technologies and tools to enhance our work and solve real problems. Experience with Figma is a plus.

Experience in perceiving data as a design material. You have a solid grip on using REST APIs and understand how data structures can impact CMS editors, scalability and view layers.

The ability to grab a pencil expands on existing designs and concepts. You understand the underlying principles of graphic- and motion design and the know-how to collaborate and co-create with designers and UX experts.

Experience working across both fast deadlines and long hauls. You can spin up a landing page in hours and love iterating continuously to test impact and meet user needs.

The curiosity to engage with terms like databases, cloud functions and microservices. You see this as an opportunity to expand your skillset and professional reach. You have some experience working with backend technologies and can integrate towards platforms like Contentful, Craft CMS, Shopify, WordPress etc.

Interest in and understanding of brands and consumers' behaviours.

Co-direct highly effective, award-winning solutions with your teams and demonstrate ownership, passion and ability to deliver the highest level of creativity at every project stage while ensuring those around you do the same. Work that is bold, lucid and unexpected.

Collaborate closely with the wider digital team to ensure Pearlfisher maintains the highest design standards to deliver award-winning, influential work on every project.

Proactively share technology and user experience knowledge internally and externally at all stages of the process.

Work in a connected, agile and imaginative way with the broader Pearlfisher team harnessing people management and leadership skills.

Demonstrate self-awareness and ability to communicate up and down both internally and externally.

Within one month, you’ll:  

Complete our onboarding process.

Work alongside our Digital Director to fully understand the future vision for Pearlfisher’s digital service offer.

Partake inductions with critical members of the wider Pearlfisher team.

Start working on client projects and participate in client development initiatives alongside the Digital Director and development teams.

Within three months, you’ll:

Be working independently on your projects.

Be building meaningful client relationships.

Understand our vision for the next 12 months and beyond.

Within six months, you’ll:

Be the first contact for many Creative Technology requirements.


Reporting structure

You will report to our Digital Director. The role will also involve close consultation with the Client Management, Business Development, Marketing & Communication, and other Pearlfisher teams.
